Star #1: Family owned business that feels like it as soon as you walk in and when you check out.
Star #2: Wide assortment of grocery and household products tightly packed in a two-lane store front. You'll be surprised how much they fit into that tiny space!
Star #3: Fresh produce that's much better than the closest grocery store (Gristedes). Is it as good as the farmer's market on Sundays two blocks down? Probably not, but it's open 6 days a week!
Star #4: Speaking of 6 days a week, props to the establishment for taking Sundays off. It can be annoying when you forget, but I'm glad they give their team a break.
Star #5: And finally, they have a super helpful team on staff. More helpful and 'more present' than your typical grocery store.

I feel silly writing this because the fact is that in this city you will shop at the little grocery closest to you for the things you didn't get on your last hand-numbing trek from your favorite big grocery with the lower prices. But I feel so lucky to have one of the last, truly authentic family-owned and cared for stores near me that I have to share. Zingone really can surprise you with some nice produce at a great price for such a small market. And it's refreshing that the name of the store doesn't end in "farm" or "corporation" but rather "Brothers". Whichever family member is at the register will look you in the eye, smile, and say "thank you" as you pay. It is obvious that they have been here since the 30s because they really enjoy being a service to the neighborhood. I've written a few reviews blasting the over hyped places in the city that pretend to add something to our quality of life but really just rip us off. Zingone's is one of those places that make me happy to be a New Yorker. It's just good at what it does and it does it honestly and fairly and gives good value.

A great family owned and family run local market. They have a great variety of whatever you need and fantastic produce. They will even pick and deliver fresh produce to you! The owners and staff are especially knowledgeable and are truly the nicest people.
Zingone Brothers market is what people think of when they say they love the Upper West side--Quality, Character, Caring.

I live right upstairs from this place. Perfect spot to grab last minute groceries, they always have just what I need. The owners and staff are the nicest people in the neighborhood, and love to bond with their customers. One of the owners always recommends the best fruit! You can always trust him when it comes to picking a good healthy snack.

The BEST grocery store I've ever been to. Anything you need, they will make happen. Amazing, accommodating people. Quality product. Above and beyond in EVERY way. Mary is seriously the best! Her customer service is so far and above.

I just moved to the UWS and was feeling anxious that the only close grocery store was Gristedes- yuck! Talk about bad produce! Zingone saved me! The most delicious and excellent priced produce and the FRIENDLIEST staff ever! I try and pop in several times a week for this and that, and am always greeted so warmly. Love it!

Zingone is one of the last family owned and operated businesses in my nabe. I love that. What everyone else wrote about the wonderful Zingone family is true. Mrs. Z at the cash register does know who you are, and Dominic, Mary, and the rest of the family are so helpful and open-hearted. They've even taken special orders for my wife, a real foodie. Who else does that at a neighborhood grocery store?
Moreover, the produce is consistently good and varied, the store is easy to navigate, the hours are convenient, and the prices beat local chain stores.
Finally, here's good news for the future: The next generation of Zingones are reaching their tweens and starting to help out at the store. The torch will be passed!

Typical NYC grocery stop, anything but typical staff. You know the scowling, unhelpful attendants across the way at Gristedes? You won't find any of that abominable customer service at Zingone Brothers. Family owned, totally nice. I've been living around here since January and I'm grateful to have a place to go to for fresh milk and oatmeal that hasn't been laying around the shelves for years.
Obviously not a destination spot, but if you're in the area it's a nice place to stop in for some odd and ends...and maybe a smile.

Even though I found it to be a regular mini grocery store, after I read these reviews I decided to just stop by to check it out since I was hungry.
I walked over minding my own business, and then after I was asked if I needed help, I thought that was pretty nice and probably typical for someone looking a bit lost. Then one of the owners and her brother randomly started conversation with me and asking if I was new to the neighborhood! And then maybe their dad came around the corner and asked if I needed anything, too. SOOO HELPFUL! Kinda rare in these types of places, but I really did feel the love in this place (haha so corny).
I'd much rather give them my business than the overpriced, cash-only places around this area!! Super friendly!

I moved to UWS on Monday. It's Friday. I made my first grocery store visit and decided to go to Zingone's because of the Yelp reviews. It's a small 2 alley grocer that you can clearly tell is family owned and loved by all. The owner, Dominique knew everyone's name. I let him know I'm new to NYC and he greeted me with a smile and told me if I needed a delivery/if I was sick, to let them know! They have a cat in the store that's very friendly. It's definitely a good spot for all your basic needs. If you need special ingredients, I'd consider a Trader Joe's or Zabars (even though I haven't been to either).

I have to post a review here, because I lost my wallet on the streets of NYC and this awesome family helped me to get my life back! and in the knick of time! It's an old family grocery store and they're all genuine Italian.. Richie -the one who tracked me down by calling my college in San Francisco was great. A lot of spirit in there. My friend who was with me bought one of their cool totes for a souvenir, made on nice canvas. Please support this local business.. been there family owned and operated since 1927!!! (if I remember that right) Thanks Zingone Brothers!
